A Wells Family Christmas

‘Twas the week before Christmas
At the Wells’ brand new place
Decorations were covering
Every available space

Dawn attempted some baking
But the oven put up a fight
The result was something like cookies
And yet, not quite

With our trusty blower
I plowed mountains of snow
Why do we live here?
I really don’t know

After the kids went to bed
And the lights were all dim
The demon dog, Lily
Ate our new kitchen trim

I lit some soft candles
And turned on the charm
Thinking Dawn would come running
In to my arms

But before she had a chance
To reject my mating call
Dylan flew out of his bedroom
To the bathroom ‘cross the hall

The sounds of his retching
Echoed throughout
And I feared we were facing
An epic flu bout

Being a generous child
And brother, so dear
Dylan decided to share
His new holiday cheer

Soon the house was filled
With a not-so-joyous chorus
Of four puking kids
And a challenge before us

With hand sanitizer
And gallons of soap
We forged through the weekend
And managed to cope

Now we’re back to our blogging,
Facebooking, and Xbox
And yelling at Lily
For eating our socks

So from our house to yours
To friends far and near
We wish you Merry Christmas
And a puke-free New Year!
